Superfast 4G mobile broadband service due for launch in Redhill today
1:00pm Wednesday 28th August 2013 in Local News
Superfast 4G mobile broadband from EE was due to be launched in Redhill today.
The superfast broadband service, also due to go live in Woking and Guildford today, was hailed as offering businesses and residents in the areas mobile speeds more than five times faster than 3G. EE is the only mobile operator offering a 4G mobile service in Surrey this year.
The service is already live in Camberley, Farnham and Leatherhead.
Dean Humphrey, EE store manager, said: “The expansion of 4G mobile broadband services to Guildford, Woking and Redhill is great news for customers in the county.”
Mr Humphrey said: “Residents and businesses can do more on the move around the region, sharing content, streaming from the web and working online - no matter where they are.”
The operator said recent research has shown that 4G is changing the way customers use their mobiles, with streaming and sharing more important. It said one in four “ultra-social” Britons check social apps more than ten times a day on their 4G smartphone or tablet, with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram the favourite social media apps over 4G.
EE is the new superfast 4G brand, and the company that offers Orange and T-Mobile plans in the UK. The EE stores in the area offer residents and businesses mobile and Fibre Broadband services from EE, Orange and T-Mobile. EE is the largest and most advanced digital communications company in Britain, delivering mobile and fixed communications services to consumers, businesses, government and the wholesale market, with more than 15,000 employees and 600 retail stores.
It serves more than 27 million customers on EE, Orange and T-Mobile mobile and broadband plans. 4GEE is available in 105 UK towns and cities, including Crawley, and EE is aiming for 98% of the UK population to be covered by the end of 2014.
Double speed 4GEE is available in 20 cities.
