Police are seeking the owners of items found in a flat in Hove in Sussex, which they believe may have been stolen in burglaries, including in Surrey.
Sussex Police has put out a call about the haul of goods which officers believe may be proceeds of burglaries across Sussex and neighbouring counties over the past year, including Surrey and Kent.
The items comprise a number of Royal Doulton figurines, porcelain figurines, trinket boxes, a nutcracker, a revolving music box, items of jewellery and watches, and a number of ornate clocks.
They were found when detectives from the Sussex Police Serious Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) carried out a search warrant at the flat in Sackville Road, Hove, on July 15.
Detective Constable Dan McCarthy said: "We think the items may have been proceeds of burglaries in the past year. “You can view them at http://property.sussex-police.co.uk/view/recovereditems and if you think you recognise them, please give us a call on 101, quoting Serial 507 of 25/7." A Sussex Police spokesman said a 78-year-old Brighton man had been arrested on suspicion of dishonest handling, and had been bailed until Tuesday, August 27, while enquiries continue.
The spokesman said: “Another man appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 18, and pleaded guilty to a burglary at Alexis Antiques, East Street, Petworth, in the early hours of Thursday, July 11, in which a number of items were stolen. “Two mirrors were amongst property stolen and they were later recovered at an address in Princes Road, Brighton, on Tuesday, July 16.
“Ron Holdway, 48, unemployed, of Manor Way, Brighton, was remanded in custody for sentencing at Lewes Crown Court on a date yet to be set.”
