Two charged with attempted robbery at Reigate jewellers

Two men have been charged in connection with an attempted robbery at a jewellers in Reigate. The men, Michael Terrance King, 47, from Bordon in Hampshire, and Michael William King, 79, also from Bordon, have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

The charges follow an investigation carried out by officers from the Serious and Organised Crime Unit into an attempted robbery at Philip Lloyd Jewellers in Reigate High Street.

The attempted raid happened at about 11.25am on Tuesday, October 16, last year.

Officers charged the Hampshire men last Thursday (March 7) and they are due to appear at South East Surrey Magistrates Court in Redhill on Friday, March 22.

A Surrey Police spokeswoman said a woman aged in her 20s, who was also arrested in connection with the attempted robbery, has been released with no further action being taken against her.
