12:32pm Wednesday 13th March 2013 in Local News
Horley firefighters joined colleagues from Crawley and members of the Smallfield-based Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) rescuing an elderly man and woman from a car which had turned over after colliding with a tree in an industrial park.
The collision happened in Oakwood Industrial Park in Gatwick Road, Crawley, at just after 6pm yesterday.
The elderly woman was released from the overturned car by ambulance paramedics and was taken to East Surrey Hospital, Redhill.
Firefighters then stabilised the car and used cutting gear to free the man.
He was assessed by the HART team and the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) before being taken to hospital.
