Police closed off part of the M25 this morning after a man climbed out from underneath a lorry suffering from hyperthermia.
Officers went to the stretch between Junction 7 for the M23 and Junction 8 for Reigate after the man climbed out from beneath the vehicle near Merstham.
The man was spotted just after 10am walking over to the motorway's central reservation, covered in mud and in what police called “a distressed state.”
South East Coast Ambulance Service went to the man's aid and he was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, suffering from hyperthermia. A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: “No other vehicles are believed to have been involved and enquiries are ongoing to establish the man’s identity and the vehicle he was using to travel.” Officers closed lanes three and four of the motorway under Merstham Bridge while an investigation was carried out. Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference P13072339.
