Redhill mum wins YMCA gym and fitness competition
12:30pm Monday 4th March 2013 in Local News
A Redhill mother-of-two has won the Reigate and Redhill YMCA’s Healthier Lifestyle competition, run in Redhill, Reigate and Horley Life recently.
Emma Newburn, 35, said she was “absolutely thrilled” at winning a free full year’s membership to the YMCA’s gym and fitness classes.
The YMCA Premium Gym Membership with unlimited access to fitness classes and gym is worth £290. Emma said: “It’s come at exactly the right time for me.
“I have just started going to the Power Hour class and want to lose the last bit of weight which I gained from having the children.”
She said: “I can now try some of the other classes, like Zumba and Pilates, and have a personalised workout programme created for me by one of the fitness instructors in the gym.
“It will give me the incentive to continue toning up and becoming healthier over-all.”
YMCA gym manager Robert Cook said: “Sport and exercise improves not just your physical health but your general well-being.
“It helps you feel better about yourself, be more positive, boosts self-confidence and helps you make new friends.”
Studies show that just 60 minutes of activity per day makes children and adults both healthier and happier.
The YMCA’s Fitness Gym is open Monday to Thursday from 6.30am to 10pm, on Fridays from 6.30am to 9pm, and at weekends from 8am to 6pm.
It is also now open on Bank Holidays.
