More Horley Carnival details revealed

Horley Town Council has revealed more details of this summer's Horley Carnival, planned for the town centre on Saturday, July 13.

The carnival will run from noon until 5pm and will take in recreation grounds, with a procession of floats too.

The carnival's organising committee has said the decision to revive the Horley Carnival was made following the success of last summer's Jubilee Fun Day.

Horley town councillor Roy Sherwin, chairman of the town council's finance and general purposes committee, called the event “a triumph.”

And this summer, the organising committee is hoping to repeat the success with the carnival being a community family day, taking the theme of children's books.

The festivities will start at noon with the parade through the town centre and into the recreation grounds.

Entertainment will include dancing, music from the Vegas Nights singing group and Blown Gasket, a dog show and the East Grinstead Miniature Steam Railway.

Family lunches will be available with a selection of caterers there, and there will also be stalls.

Local organisations working together with Horley Town Council include Horley Chamber of Commerce, Horley Lions, Horley and District Round Table, the Rotary and 41 Club, Horley Country Market and Horley East Guides. More details are to be announced soon. Website: www.horleysurrey-tc.gov.uk
