Radio Redhill, based at the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, has planned nine days of special programmes to keep its listeners entertained over Christmas and the New Year.

The special programmes will start at 9am on Christmas Eve and continue until New Year's Day.

Highlights include a chance to hear this year’s Carols at the Belfry shopping centre in Redhill on Christmas Day at 9am.

Patients at the East Surrey Hospital will have their own Christmas requests played on Christmas Day from 2pm and Boxing Day from 10am.

The 8,000 record requests made by patients over the last 12 months will also be the basis of a series of daily programmes featuring the Top 300 Requests of 2012.

These will start at 2pm on Boxing Day at number 300, and will finish on New Year's Day at 2pm, with the all-important Top 40 most popular requests.

A special one-hour programme will feature the former musical director for the late great Matt Monro, and local resident, Tony Stenson, recalling his musical life and choosing his favourite music.

This will be aired on Thursday, December 27, at 7pm, repeated on Sunday, December 30, at 9pm.

Another highlight will be a 30-minute concert given by the award-winning Redhill-based close-harmony group Vocal Dimension, recorded in the hospital chapel.

This will be broadcast on Boxing Day at 8.30pm, with a repeat on New Year’s Day at 8pm.

Radio Redhill can be heard by listeners at the East Surrey Hospital on 1431AM, and worldwide in stereo via the Radio Redhill website at: www.radioredhill.co.uk
