Crime-busting business scheme to launch in Horley

A crime-busting scheme is being set up in Horley to protect local businesses weathering the recession.

Surrey Police's Horley Safer Neighbourhood Team is setting up a Business Watch in the area.

Members of the Safer Neighbourhood team are inviting town businesses to join the scheme that will provide them with extra security information and advice to protect their livelihoods.

Businesses will be encouraged to be alert, look out for any unusual or suspicious activity, and to report it to the police so that it can be shared with other local companies.

Timely information will be collated and passed on to the business community with up-to-date crime prevention advice and reassurance.

The scheme is free to join and members will receive regular bulletins about local criminal activity, emerging trends and suspicious activity in a bid to prevent and deter business-related crime. Police Community Support Officer Ashley Eyden said: "We are very excited to be launching Business Watch in Horley.”

PCSO Eyden said: “It's an excellent scheme where members can work together to provide added security and safety to the benefit of all.

"We will be able to offer highly relevant and targeted information that will help safeguard them against crime, so that they can concentrate on running efficient and productive businesses.”

People wanting to find out more about joining the scheme should contact PCSO Ashley Eyden on 01483 632665.
