Vomiting bug cases still low at hospital

Cases of norovirus, or winter vomiting disease, at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, have risen slightly to two patients.
Health chiefs this week confirmed that two patients on one ward had the illness.
The number had dropped dramatically in a little over three weeks from 34 patients across six wards to one patient last week.
But a spokeswoman for Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said because norovirus is seasonal, they may see a sudden upturn in cases, and people should continue to stay away from the hospital unless absolutely necessary.
The trust is continuing to ask people to use soap and water if they do visit relatives in the hospital, but the spokeswoman said people should not go there if they felt unwell, or had been unwell in the previous week, to limit the spread of the bug.
People should instead contact their GP or call NHS Direct, she said.
