Redfest returns

Redfest music festival returns to Robins Cook Farm in Kings Mill Lane near Redhill this month.

Some 55 bands and musicians will be performing on three stages in the third annual event on Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26.

The first two festivals, organised by promoter Matt Nichols, were hit by bad weather and disappointing turn-outs.

But this year's event is taking place regardless of the climate of recession, is bigger and is also an Oxjam Music Festival through a team-up with Oxfam which will see some of the proceeds from the weekend going to the charity.

As with last year, there will be camping allowed on the site and there will also be a funfair, food and market stalls.

Redfest is gaining a name for championing new talent, offering acts the chance to perform outdoors on a festival stage with a level of production normally only found at much larger events.

Past acts on the Redfest stage have included Newton Faulkner, Ordinary Boys and Pete And The Pirates.

The 18 bands lined up to perform on the main stage this year include The Whip, White Rabbits and The Kabeedies.

The 20 outfits set to play on the local bands stage include Us And Them, Forever Wednesday, The Rylics and According To Her.

And Phil King, Pretty Bricks and Sam Quill are among the 17 Oxfam acoustic stage turns.

Tickets are priced at £15 for the weekend including camping and parking, and £10 for Saturday or Sunday, with under 14s free but having to be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are available on 01737 276500, 01737 221481, or from the website: www.wegottickets.com Details from the event website: www.redfest.co.uk
