Electronic Mercedes wing mirrors have been targeted by thieves in Redhill and Merstham over the past two months.

Police are investigating the spate of thefts of the wing mirrors which cost between £300 and £900. Eight Mercedes owners in Redhill, Merstham, and Horley awoke on Monday September 1 and reported that both their wing mirrors had been carefully removed overnight.

And Mercedes Benz of Redhill, Brighton Road, had eight sets of mirrors stolen during the night of Thursday September 18. Investigating officer PC David Christian said he believed the careful removal of the mirrors suggested they were being stolen for resale: “Whoever is responsible for these thefts is obviously removing the wing mirrors in a very professional manner, carefully unscrewing the entire units.

“We would be very interested in talking to anyone who has recently had their Mercedes wing mirrors replaced or has been offered replacement wing mirrors that they suspect might be stolen.” Anyone with any information should contact PC David Christian at Reigate Police Station on 01737 386185
