SURREY County Council is reminding residents the current consultation on its minerals plan will end on Friday, June 6.
Residents have previously been consulted on minerals but that concentrated on the strategy of the plan and sites for the extraction of sand and gravel used by the construction industry.
The current consultation has come about following the Government's call for all authorities to ensure the strategy of a plan covers all mineral requirements.
This consultation therefore looks at non-aggregate minerals, such as silica sand, clay, oil and gas in Surrey.
However, the current consultation does not alter the previous consultation work on sand and gravel.
Once the consultation is complete, the results will be reported back to the executive and published on the county council website www.surreycc.gov.uk There will be a further opportunity to comment when the plan is submitted to Government in July 2009.
Environment councillor David Harmer said: "We've had a good response from the people of Surrey giving their views on the plan and I would encourage anyone who has not yet made their point to do so as quickly as possible."
