Road users in Redhill are being asked to take extra care during February and March following the conversion of a stretch of road from one to two-way.

The sections of the A25 running through the town centre between Lombard roundabout and the High Street/ Cromwell Road junction are now open to two-way traffic.

Reigate and Banstead Borough Council ask drivers, cyclists and pedestrians to be aware that other road users may not be expecting traffic coming from both directions.

Also drivers using the Marketfield Road car park must now enter and exit at a new entrance in Marketfield Way. The high street entrance to the car park is now closed.

Carol Squires, Head of Business Development at Surrey Chamber of Commerce said: “I think it is very important to the area; tackling the congestion, supporting sustainable transport and as part of the regeneration project.

“We very much welcome the scheme. It was well and truly needed and I think it will have a good impact and make the town more welcoming. But we will have to be careful while everyone gets used to the new arrangements.”

The switch which began on Sunday, February 15 is part of the £4million Redhill Balanced Network project which involves a series of improvements to junctions and for walking, cycling and buses.
