Detectives from East Surrey CID are investigating three arson attacks on cars in Redhill.

The incidents occurred overnight between Tuesday, 6 January and Wednesday, 7 January on The Frenches, Bletchingley Road and Albury Road.

Damage was caused to a Ford Mondeo, a Renault Clio and a Vauxhall Corsa after the offender gained access to the vehicles and attempted to set them alight.

Investigating Officer PC Dan Parsons, said: “Although we are still in the very early stages of this investigation we believe the three offences are linked due to the nature of the crime, the close proximity in which they occurred and the time-scale they were committed in.

“I would ask anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around the time the offences were committed or who has their suspicions around someone they know, who they think could be responsible to contact us as a matter of urgency. Information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“I understand news of these offences will have an impact in the Redhill community, especially after the spate of arson offences which occurred in the Summer of 2014. We do not believe these crimes are related to those offences and we are working closely with local residents to prevent any further incidents.

“The Reigate and Banstead Safer Neighbourhood Team will be patrolling the area as reassurance and making a number of enquiries. If you can assist with the investigation or would like advice on how to protect your property please speak with them or call 101.”

Anyone who can assist officers with their investigation is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 45150000551. Information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
