A man has been attacked and knocked unconscious after a night out in Redhill.

The 24-year-old victim had been out in the town and walked to Road Runners to get a taxi when he was involved in an altercation with another man.

He was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill but was later transferred to Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead for surgery for a broken jaw.

investigating officer Detective Constable Karen Scholey, of Surrey Police, said: "This was a very nasty GBH which has left the victim with a broken jaw requiring extensive surgery, including having a metal plate fitted. He has also had to have a wisdom tooth removed.

"We have viewed CCTV from the area but unfortunately it does not show the incident itself although there were two women who may have witnessed the attack, and we would like to speak to them.

"The victim could not provide a description of his attacker so we hoping that someone may come forward with a vital piece of information which could help us identify the perpetrator of this violent assault.”
