Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for information after a woman in her 90s was the victim of a distraction burglary in Horley.

The incident occurred between 11.50am and 12.30pm on Tuesday, 25 November at a property on The Crescent when the lady answered the door to a man. The offender claimed he was visiting the address to carry out maintenance work before forcing his way into the house.

Once inside, the man took £250 from the woman before taking another £150 from elsewhere in the property.

Investigating officer Detective Constable James Vernon, said: “I would ask anyone who either saw anything suspicious in this area around the time of the offence or who believes the offender may have also visited their address to contact officers with information.”
