Holy Family Catholic Church welcomed more than 200 people to the opening of its “fabulous” new community centre.

The centre in Yorke Road, Reigate will host parish and community events but will also be made available for hire, with some already being readily used for dance and ballet classes.

Parish moderator Father Chris Spain said: “It has a lovely, happy atmosphere.”

The facilities at the parish centre will be a place of “laughter, joy and charity”, the congregation heard.

A special Mass took place to honour the opening on Saturday October 11, and the welcoming tone was echoed by a hymn sung during the service, All Are Welcome.

Father Chris was joined by Father Aaron Spinelli, and former parish priests Father Daryl George, and Father Kevin Dring, who blessed the parish centre before cutting the cake.

Father Aaron said the centre looked fabulous.

He added: “Our facilities will be a busy hub, a place of laughter and entertainment.”

To celebrate the opening, parish musicians played in the hall, which holds up to 300 people.

Following this musical performance, the congregation of well-wishers enjoyed cakes and other light refreshments.

The already accommodating parish centre also leads out to an equally large, floodlit courtyard.

Other charming features include a walkway linked to the church, a landscaped garden, an office, meeting room and kitchen.

The centre is open every day from 10am until 11pm. For any booking queries, call 01737 770030 and leave a message, visit www.thenativityofthelord.org.uk, or email pnlcentre.stj@gmail.com.
