A seven-year-old Redhill lad managed to cycle more than 37 miles in under four hours after mounting up with his parents for an annual bike-riding fundraiser.

Young Harry Blyth joined his parents Michelle and Neil taking part in the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton bike ride.

Having given a donation to the cause, the trio joined the massive field of riders at Redhill, bound for the Sussex coast and the Brighton finish line.

And Harry proved himself up to the challenge by covering the 37.2-miles in three hours and 48 minutes.

He even managed gruelling Ditchling Beacon on the South Downs without stopping – passing many adults who were walking up it.

His mum Michelle said: “My husband is a keen cyclist and we go out quite a lot as a family.

“Harry is a keen cyclist too and he's into Star Wars and Lego at the moment, and my husband said he would get him the Millennium Falcon in Lego if he managed to cycle all the way there.

“And he did it. He didn't stop all the way.”

Harry, who goes to Merstham Primary School, and has a five-year-old brother called Tom, did sleep a little on the way home afterwards, his mum said, but she added: “He raced to the finish line though and was ahead of me.”
