An Essex man has been charged in connection with an attempted courier fraud scam in Redhill.

Kaza Islam, 29, appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court last Thursday (June 19), charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to Barclays Bank in Reigate at around 11am on Tuesday, June 17, following reports from members of staff who were concerned about an elderly customer.”

The spokesman continued: “The woman did not lose any money as a result of the incident, and following a number of further enquiries, Surrey officers arrested a man in London in connection with the incident.”

At Guildford Magistrates Court, Islam was remanded in custody, and is next due to appear at the same court on Thursday, July 3.
