More than 800 people turned out to sample some of the colour, spectacle and treats the county has to offer in this year's Festival of Surrey Life.

The crowds of fun-lovers descended on the marquees, food and crafts stalls and displays at The Fox Revived in Norwood Hill, near Horley.

The fourth annual family festival featured attractions including classic cars, birds of prey, music and Morris dancing.

Music was provided by, among others, Ron Covey, former Surrey's Got Talent finalist and Kingston-based singer-songwriter Sophie Plummer, “Busker Tom” Stephenson, and musician Peter Garofalo.

Henfold Birds of Prey introduced festival-goers to their collection of feathered friends, including an American Burrowing Owl called Dotty, while birds of a decidedly different feather, The Rampant Roosters, took to the festival stage Morris dancing.

As well as classic vehicles including Land Rovers, tractors and a Ferrari, visitors also got the chance to look over an ambulance with husband and wife Dave and Anne Page from St John's Ambulance, members of the Horley and Gatwick Unit for eight years, opening the doors of their emergency vehicle to allow visitors to see inside, and learn about their vital work.

Dave, who is the unit manager, said: "It's so important that children are familiar with St John's, and they see our representatives as approachable. “We explain and show them our kit bags, stretchers and inside our ambulance, so they'll feel comfortable should they ever have to travel inside one."

Owner of the Fox Revived, Jon Briscoe, said: "I created the Festival of Surrey Life to showcase the very best from our county, and gather everything that's really great about Surrey in one place.”

He said: “As a parent myself, I knew that a fun event for families over the late-May Bank Holiday, that's also free, would be popular, and that is proved by our returning visitors. “It's down to our fantastic stall-holders and performers that continue to join us each year that the festival is so well-attended - even in bad weather. “It's great to see the social and business community come together."
