The Reigate Manor Hotel has announced a grand opening party this September at the end of a major £450,000 refurbishment.

The 50-bedroom, six-function suite Best Western Reigate Manor Hotel on the A217 at Reigate has reached a key stage in the big modernisation, which started last winter.

A number of the ground floor rooms have been completed, and are far from what the hotel bosses called the dated look it had had for years.

Geoffrey Goddard, whose family has owned the hotel for more than a decade, announced the major refurbishment to restore it to former glory.

Completion is scheduled for August.

The aim is to see the hotel transformed and once again establish itself as a hub both for people visiting the area, and for locals to use as a meeting place, as well as somewhere to go for a meal or drinks.

Mr Goddard said: “It’s no secret that the hotel has been in need of refurbishment for a while now and whilst our excellent location just five minutes from the M25 offered an unbeatable option for business travellers, the hotel needs to be, and will be, so much more than that.”

He said: “The majority of the work is focused on our public spaces and function rooms.”

The first stage saw the refurbishment of the hotel reception, to include a coffee lounge.

Mr Goddard continued: “We deliberately picked a local interior designer to work alongside, in order to create a new character for the hotel which reflects its past glory as the ‘hotel of choice’ in the area.”

He said each room has its own bespoke character, including The Conservatory, The Club Room, The Lounge and The Ballroom, to “reflect the character of a traditional country house.”

The Lounge, Conservatory and Club Rooms are complete, and while it is business as usual for the hotel now, the finishing of each remaining room will complete month by month until the grand opening party in September.
