A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a traffic collision with a van in Redhill this morning.

The motorcycle rider, a man believed to be in his early fifties, suffered serious injuries to his pelvis, torso and feet, and was taken by air ambulance to St George's Hospital in Tooting.

A Surrey Police spokesman said the man's injuries were believed to be life-changing but not life-threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision in Brickfield Road, close to the junction with Prince of Wales Road, shortly after 8.15am.

The collision involved a silver Ford Transit van and a blue Honda motorcycle.

Following the incident, officers closed Prince of Wales Road at the junction with Green Lane and Dayseys Hill, and the junction with Crab Hill Lane. Both Brickfield Road and Prince of Wales Road were fully reopened shortly after 11am.
