Reigate's Dunottar School's stage was transformed into 1930s New York for a three-night run of the famous gangsters musical, Guys And Dolls.

Actor Charlie Watts directed a 40-strong cast of pupils in the production, which was choreographed by Helen Parker and given its Depression-era setting by art teacher Marion Baker.

The resulting tale, which mixes gambling, love and salvation, played to packed-out audiences each night, and was performed with panache which the director said had made him proud of the pupils.

Amidst thanks to costume designer Catherine Penfold, musical director Charles Thompson, supported by Sue Gough, David Boyd for lighting, and production team Julie Boden, Laura Smith and Nicola Wintle, the director said: “I’m very proud of the students’ achievements, and I would like to thank everyone who supported the show.”

He added: "Guys and Dolls has been a real challenge for the girls as technically, it is a difficult musical. “They have worked incredibly hard and have produced a show they can all be immensely proud of.”
