Glyndebourne star Anna Rajah is to return as guest soloist in Reigate and Redhill Choral Society's Spring Classics concert.

The concert at St Martin’s Church in Church Street, Dorking, will take place on Saturday, March 29, at 7.30pm.

The programme will feature John Rutter's Requiem and various popular shorter works by the distinguished British composer, who is the President of the Dorking-based Leith Hill Music Festival.

Ms Rajah will be returning after her triumph when she stepped in at 24 hours' notice in the choir's performance of Karl Jenkins' Peacemakers last July.

The award-winning British soprano is in her final year at the International Opera School based at the Royal College of Music.

The Spring Classics programme will open with Lead Kindly Light and Love Divine by Howard Goodall, the English composer and broadcaster who was singing ambassador for the Government's recent national singing programme.

In addition, the choir will perform Haydn's Little Organ Mass.

Reigate and Redhill Choral Society music director Peter Farrant, said: "I am delighted that Anna is appearing once again with Reigate and Redhill Choral Society at St Martin's Church in Dorking.

“Her voice is truly remarkable and she stunned audience members with a wonderful interpretation of Karl Jenkins' Peacemakers last July, standing in at less than 24 hours' notice, having never performed the work previously.

"I am thoroughly looking forward to working with her on Rutter's beautiful Requiem."

The performance will also feature four “workplace choirs” - the brainchild of Mr Farrant - with participants drawn from Redhill's East Surrey Hospital, The Children’s Trust in Tadworth, and Legal and General's Kingswood and Hove offices.

Tickets for the concert are available in advance from the society's website at: www.rrcs.org.uk or by calling 07588 730246. Any remaining tickets will be available on the door from 7pm.
