More than seven acres of open grassland and woods near Redhill are to go under the auctioneer's hammer.

The site at Gatton Bottom in Merstham, let at £350 per annum under a grazing licence, is among 27 lots to be sold by regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson next month. Sam Kinloch, senior auction valuer, said: "The land, formerly part of the Merstham Estate, is likely to be of interest to quite a few people in the area.

"Currently used for grazing, it is considered the site would be suitable for a number of different uses, and may even hold future development potential, subject to all the necessary planning consents being obtainable."

Starting at 11am, the first of Clive Emson's eight regional sales this year will take place at The Hilton Brighton Metropole in Brighton, on Tuesday, February 11.

The previous round of auctions, held in December, raised more than £15 million, with 85% of lots sold.

Clive Emson is a property and land auctioneer to estate agents, commercial property agents, statutory bodies and private clients.

The firm’s reach is across southern England, from Kent to Cornwall, and it is one of the top four auctioneers in the UK by way of value and volume of residential sales, and sixth over-all.
