Community choir The Horley Singers are to hold another “Come and Sing” evening this month in a bid to boost the number of men in its ranks.

The 40-strong choir, which sings in aid of local charities and worthy causes, only has eight male voices at the moment.

The choir rehearses in the Methodist Church hall in Horley every Monday at 8pm during term-time, and performs a repertoire designed to appeal to a wide range of musical tastes, including modern and light classical pieces. There are no auditions to join and members do not have to read music. Membership secretary June Goodenough said the Come and Sing evening will be held in the Methodist Church hall in Victoria Road, Horley, on Monday, January 20, at 8pm.

“Of course, ladies who like to sing would be warmly welcomed too,” she said.
