Three Reigate Sixth Formers are to take to the skies next month for a fundraising tandem skydive.

Friends Ciara Mockett, Rhiannon Wand and Nancy Arnold, who are students at the Royal Alexandra and Albert School and currently revising for their AS Levels, will be flying high over the Kent countryside on Saturday, July 20.

At 10,000 feet though, they will be jumping out of the plane for their triple skydiving feat.

Ciara said: “We have all as individuals wanted to do something to help raise money for charity and then we came up with the idea of a sponsored skydive.”

She said: “We have each chosen a charity that means a lot to us. “I have chosen Neuroblastoma Alliance UK, a charity helping children and families fight an aggressive childhood cancer.

“The other charities chosen are Action for ME and Psoriasis Alliance.”

Ciara, who hails from Brighton, said: “We are a diverse group with a variety of interests including horse riding, sports, the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and army cadets.”

She confessed: “We are all petrified of heights so maybe jumping out of a plane at 120mph, 10,000 feet in the air, wasn't the best idea for us, but we know it's for a good cause.

“We are all from the local area and feel that this event could act as a springboard in bringing the community together for a good cause.”

Ciara said: “I am aiming to raise an amount of £500.  “Sponsorship would help raise money not only to help save lives, but to support people going through a tough time.”
