Teenagers arrested on M23 near Gatwick

Two teenagers were arrested by officers from Sussex Police on suspicion of vehicle interference and going equipped to steal after they were stopped on the M23 near Gatwick.

The teenagers, two 17-year-old males from Surrey, were stopped after police received a report that a lorry's fuel cap had been interfered with while parked at Hickstead on the A23 on Thursday, February 21, at 6.50pm. The suspects had made off in a van.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Officers spotted a van matching the description on the M23 and stopped it at 10.05pm, and the driver and passenger, two 17-year-old males from Surrey, were arrested.”

The pair were questioned and have been released on bail until Saturday, March 23.
