Nutfield designer goldsmith's top secret mission
1:38pm Monday 28th January 2013 in News
A Nutfield designer goldsmith was given a secret mission with a difference by someone with a glamorous background in the undercover world.
Roger Elliott, who makes bespoke jewellery at his High Street studio, was given one of his most eye-catching assignments by actress Dame Judi Dench, alias M in last year's James Bond blockbuster, Skyfall.
Dame Judi, who lives in the area, commissioned Roger to create cufflinks from four spent bullet cartridges she kept as mementos of her role.
In the final shoot-out of the movie, Dame Judi took four pistol shots at the film's villain, and it was these spent cartridges she asked Roger to create cufflinks from, in order to give them as a Christmas present to her grandson.
Roger plated them in 18 carat gold, set them with fine natural rubies, made 18 carat gold chains and end bars styled as bullets, and engraved them with the word ‘skyfall.’ Replicas are available, cast from the originals, in gold or silver.
More examples of Roger's work can be seen at his website at: www.rogerelliott.com Alternatively, people can visit his Mews Studio at 19 High Street, Nutfield, which is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 5.30pm.
