Firefighters free trapped owl in Copthorne
11:57am Friday 2nd November 2012 in News
A Tawny Owl, which became stuck in netting in Copthorne, was freed by firefighters from Horley's Technical Rescue Unit (TRU).
The West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service TRU officers were called to Copthorne Common Road yesterday morning with the report of the tangled-up owl.
The bird had become stuck in netting about six metres off the ground.
The officers used rope systems and animal rescue equipment to release the owl in about two hours, and left it in the care of RSPCA staff.
