Redhill store workers in Apprentice-style charity challenge
10:49pm Monday 22nd October 2012 in News
Staff from the Wilkinson stores in Redhill will be taking over a charity shop and going head to head with other shop teams from across the region in a fundraising challenge.
The Redhill store workers will be taking over the Shooting Star CHASE charity shop in Teddington this Friday (October 26) to work as volunteers for the cause in a challenge reminiscent of TV's The Apprentice.
Their aim will be to sell as much stock as possible throughout the day, with all proceeds going straight to the children’s hospice charity.
The Wilkinson team members will also be donating items that can be sold in the store in Broad Street, Teddington, as well as using their sales skills to try and win the challenge.
Team member Jo Greenaway, from the Redhill Wilkinson store, said: “This is going to be a really fun challenge and a great way to get all the stores in the region fundraising for such a well-known charity in the area.” She said: “We will certainly be putting our selling skills to the test and would like to invite people from the local area to come and visit the store to help us raise lots of money for the charity.” Lisa Hook, senior corporate fundraiser at Shooting Star CHASE, said: “The Wilkinsons’ team are all retail experts, so I think the Apprentice challenge will be a closely fought competition. “We are very grateful for all the support that the team has been giving us so far, and are looking forward to seeing how much will be raised and which team comes out on top.” Shooting Star CHASE is Wilkinsons' chosen regional charity of the year.
The chain prides itself on being a community-focused retailer, actively supporting local charities and community groups, and encouraging its staff to support local causes that are locally important to them.
Shooting Star CHASE cares for more than 600 families living in Surrey, West Sussex and western London.
The cause supports children and teenagers with life-limiting conditions, and their families, with free services available year-round in their own homes and communities and at the two children’s hospices, Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford.
