Band in charity date
A brass band will be piping up for charity in a concert at Dunottar School in Reigate this month.
Tim Ogden, the former bandmaster of Surrey St John Ambulance County Band, will be leading the musicians in a performance there on Saturday, October 25.
The concert will be raising money towards buying a new companion vehicle for Redhill St John Ambulance.
Tim, who is an experienced bandmaster, joined a youth band at 11, playing cavalry trumpets.
At 20, he got his first valve trumpet and taught himself, and took over as bandmaster of the St John Ambulance Surrey County Band two years later.
The band won many competitions as well as playing in the Royal Tournament, the Lord Mayor's Show, for royalty and other prestigious engagements.
Tim is now a member of the Millstones Big Band and also plays in several local bands and ensembles.
The concert at Dunottar School will feature a programme of popular numbers from stage and screen, and will include a buffet meal and glass of wine. A grand prize raffle will also be held.
Tickets available from Jean Burns on 01737 234567.
