Horley fail to break deadlock

Horley Town FC 0
Camberley Town FC 0

After their poor performance in the FA cup replay at Raynes Park Vale, Horley were hoping to get back on track in the league.

John Eldrid was given the captain's armband as this was his last game for Horley, as he is emigrating to Australia.

The first 30 minutes saw both teams evenly matched with neither of them creating a clear chance.

The game came to life in the 35th minute when Camberley hit the post with a shot that had Simon Lockwood beaten.

Two minutes later Horley had a penalty turned down when Danny Guscott appeared to be pushed in the back when attacking a corner.

Horley made a change with Chris Weller replacing Justin Weller at right back. Within four minutes Camberley made Lockwood pull off a good save when he had to tip over a chip that looked goal bound.

Within four minutes of the restart Toby Gilbert made the Camberley keeper make a good save to his right when he flicked the ball first time.

This was to be the highlight of the second half with both teams cancelling each other out and Camberley looking happy to leave the New Defence with a point.

Horley made two more changes with Rhys Brown coming on for Charlie Adsett and Gary Tompkinson replacing Rhod Davies.

The plus point on Horley's performance was Jason Marquis's man of the match performance.

Everyone at Horley Town would like to wish John and his family the very best of luck on their new life in Australia and would like to thank him for his wonderful attitude and service while he has been with the club.

Team: Lockwood, J Weller, T Jupp, Guscott, Herdman, Adsett, Marquis, Lavery, Eldrid, Davies, T Gilbert. subs C Weller, Cox, Brown, Tompkinson
