£5m more for better roads
An extra £5 million is to be spent improving highways.
Surrey County Council has released the cash as a commitment to ongoing improvements.
The money will be spent across the county with emphasis on more heavily trafficked A and B roads. The council is already spending £55 million on road infrastructure.
David Munro, county councillor for transport, said: "Our budget is always tight and the Government gives us the bare minimum we need to keep our highways going.
"Despite this the council is completely focused on improving roads and is spending more than we received in grants on works. This additional money can only bring more benefits and will allow us to carry out even more work across Surrey."
