Blaze destroys cottage roof

THE entire roof of a house in Norwood Hill has been destroyed by fire.

Crews from four stations were summoned to the blaze at Latchetts Cottage in Norwood Hill Road yesterday at 12.31pm.

Firefighters from Horley and Godstone assisted crews from Reigate and a turntable ladder was brought from Guildford.

The roof was completely destroyed although firefighters using breathing apparatus managed to prevent flames spreading to the rest of the house. One person was taken to hospital suffering minor burns.

Crews remained at the scene until 6.30pm.
