Fastway extends to Redhill
A NEW Fastway bus service launches this Saturday providing a direct link between Redhill and Maidenbower in Crawley.
The Fastway will replace the Metrobus 100 route, travelling via East Surrey Hospital, Horley, Gatwick Airport, Manor Royal Industrial Estate, Crawley and Three Bridges.
Ten new buses will run every 20 minutes during the day from Mondays to Saturdays and every 30 minutes during shopping hours on Sundays.
Currently the Fastway, which was launched in 2003, operated between Crawley, Horley and Gatwick.
The vehicles travel along guided lanes and dedicated bus lanes, allowing them to bypass congestion hotspots.
Metrobus commercial development manager Nick Hill said: "Fastway is one of the most exciting transport schemes in the country and our aim is to provide an efficient and reliable service, tailored to meet the travel needs of people who live and work in the area, including staff at Gatwick Airport and East Surrey Hospital."
The extension of the service has been paid for by the Government's New Growth Points Programme, as well as contributions from Surrey County Council, Metrobus and Section 106 planning gain agreements - money from developers towards infrastructure projects.
