Cyclists raise cash for lifeboats

THE Black Horse Bike Ride takes place next Sunday, raising money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and the Sutton and Croydon Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.

Riders have a choice of three routes covering 12 miles, 30 miles or 50 miles of country roads in and around Reigate, Betchworth, Leigh, Newdigate, Horsham, Rusper, Ifield and Charlwood.

The event is being organised by John and Naomi Davidson, landlords of The Black Horse pub in West Street, Reigate.

The couple, former landlords of the Skimmington Castle, Reigate, organised bike rides for nine years, raising around £240,000 for charity.

Mr Davidson said: "The first ride we organised raised £550, the last one we did raised more than £23,000. Although we're at a new pub now, we thought there's nothing stopping us repeating the same success."

Anyone interested in taking part should call 020 8660 1181.
