THIS haunting thriller, whose UK release was delayed from last September because of some of the film's similarities to the Madeleine McCann case, is a triumphant directorial debut for Ben Affleck.
Based on top Boston crime novelist Dennis LehaneÕs work, it stars Affleck's younger brother Casey as a private investigator Patrick Kenzie who is brought in to trace a four-year-old missing girl.
Together with his girlfriend and detective partner Angie Gennaro (Michelle Monaghan), the pair uncover a murky world of abduction, child abuse and murder on the mean streets of Boston.
A gritty film with superb performances from all concerned, this is a superior crime saga.
