Meet The Spartans

Meet The Spartans (12A ) * - Sean Maguire, Ken Davitian, Carmen Electra, Kevin Sorbo and Tiffany Claus.

THIS could possibly go down as one of the worst films in cinematic history.

Movie critics across the globe have united in an act of almost unprecedented solidarity to condemn this travesty.

In fact Meet The Spartans is a worthy rival to Ed Wood's staggeringly bad Plan 9 From Outer Space.

But where Wood's 1959 "masterpiece" was almost so bad, it was actually quite good, there's no way you can say that about this car crash of a film.

An Australian newspaper has dubbed it as being "as funny as a burning orphanage".

It's a very fast and loose parody of last year's box office smash 300 with former EastEnders and Grange Hill actor Sean Maguire in the lead role (probably his last) as King Leonidas.

The film isn't really a comedy in any conventional sense with a series of gags, but it tends instead to be made up of a series of unsavoury references to western pop-culture with pot shots at easy targets like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

The jokes, as such, are as sophisticated as a defecation scene and several "celebrities" being thrown down the Pit of Death.
