Rambo

Rambo (18) *** - Sylvester Stallone, Julie Benz, Gavin McTavish, Matthew Marsden and Paul Schulze.

SO he has been largely panned by the critics for his latest offering of the old ultra-violence but you can't deny old Sly can make a damn good action movie.

Now, as you've probably predicted, Rambo isn't likely to win any prizes for finesse or indeed its script, because subtle it most certainly ain't.

But if you love your movies to be all-out action film with extra helpings of general bloody mayhem, then this is probably the film for you.

Lovers of romantic comedies, cuddly films with cute animals and period dramas are advised to stay well away.

After reviving the Rocky saga last year, comeback kid Stallone wheels out his army of one again for another apocalyptic mission.

Years after helping the Mujahideen kick Soviet butt in Afghanistan, our tortured Vietnam vet and Green Beret killing machine Rambo decides to take out his frustrations on the Burmese military this around.

Gainfully employed as a snake collector in Thailand our 'hero' meets a group of US missionaries who persuade him to escort them into Burma.

When Burmese troops kidnap the Americans, Rambo and an ex-SAS man (Gavin McTavish) lead a band of mercenaries to set the record straight...Cue lashings of gratuitous violence.
