WORK is to start on building the new multi-million pound Cullompton Medical Centre.

Haven Health has chosen leading building contractor, Cowlin Construction to build the new £3.65m medical centre, and they are due on site next week.

Cowlin will be working closely with architects B & R Partnership on the project, which is due for completion in November next year.

The build will consist of a modern two-storey building of steel frame construction, finished in a combination of natural stone, timber and coloured render under a steel roof.

The centre, on Willand Road, will provide a wide range of medical facilities, including consulting, diagnostics, treatments, and therapy, physiotherapy and minor operations. The 1,400 square metre floor area also includes a retail pharmacy and health food caf.

The external works include landscaping to the terraced site and one hundred and five car parking spaces.

Regional managing director of Cowlin, Bill Badham, said: "At Cowlin, we continue to excel with our current successful trend of winning work within the healthcare sector, with the Cullompton Medical Centre, taking our contract value within this market to over £25million.

"We are clearly providing a service that strives to deliver quality and understands client challenges, to ensure we maintain our skill of being proactive rather than re-active. Clients are noting this and obviously want more."
