CAN I just add a response to Tori Mawtus's letter (City super club plan "fantastic", October 25).

I agree with her totally, and think from a clubber's point of view that having this "departure lounge" is a good idea. To be indoors warm and safe while waiting for a lift, this does indeed sound good. But you have to gain entry into this club first.

This is exactly what my friends and I attempted to do on Monday. We were refused entry because we were not students. Apparently it was "students' night", and the only way we could go in and spend our hard-earned cash was if we could flash an NUS card. What on earth is going on? Is our money no good any more? Am I just subjected to weekend full-price drinks and entry fees?

I don't have a special discount card, free entry pass, and don't know any door people to queue jump. Nor do I have my name down on any guest lists. I work full-time, pay full price for everything and queue, to be told: "Not a student, you're not coming in."

Well students, make the most of it; because when your studies have finished, I'll see you at the back of the queue on a weekend.
