POLICE have been investigating two murders which took place within hours of each other.

Tracey McCormick, 35, was stabbed to death following an argument in Downham Way, Grove Park, at around 1pm, on September 19.

At 10pm that evening, in a separate incident, a man was shot dead at a flat Lucas Court, Bell Green Lane, Sydenham.

Police have charged 43-year-old Joshua Willis, of Ravenscar Road, Downham, with the murder of Mrs McCormick.

He appeared at Greenwich Magistrates' Court, on September 21, where he was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey, today.

A post-mortem examination showed the Sydenham victim, who is believed to be in his 30s, died from gunshot wounds.

Police say they are keeping an "open mind" on a motive for the shooting.
