GRESLEY Rovers ended Alsager Town's four-game unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday night.

The Bullets went down at Gresley to goals either side of the half-time interval.

Woolley gave the home side the lead three minutes before the break, and Hemmings made it 2-0 eight minutes into the second half.

The defeat followed a 1-1 draw for Alsager on Saturday at home to Woodley Sports.

Dean Stokes had new signing Ashley Miller on the bench for the fixture after completing his transfer from Leek Town on Thursday.

Michael Owen lined up at the heart of the defence to make his full debut, with Karl Espley dropping to the bench.

The visitors opened the scoring on 35 minutes, centre forward Salmon latching onto a free kick and firing past Conkie from 10 yards.

Alsager had enjoyed most of the play until the goal, and hit back five minutes later through ex-Port Vale forward Simon Eldershaw.

A long throw from Glyn Blackhurst reached Eldershaw at the far post, and he glanced a header past the stranded Woodley keeper goal.

Peter Heler powered down the right in the second half to fire in a ball for Budrys.

The ball broke to Eldershaw, who fired into the far corner of the goal, only for the linesman to flag for offside.

Woodley were down to 10 men 15 minutes from the end when Sergio-Daniel went in late on Stokes and received his second yellow of the afternoon.

Alsager are at home to fourth-placed Stocksbridge Park Steels tomorrow.
