COLOUR co-ordinated costumes and players groomed to perfection set the style of a show where no detail was spared. Congratulations go to director Jenny Green for a warm-hearted, energetic production and to Diane Buck for the creation of beautifully tailored outfits for the whole cast.
Hansel and Gretel are lost in the forest - but not before the audience have been entertained by a riotous team of characters: a superbly evil witch, (Hilary Causey), a rascally, yet elegant mayor, (John Gardner), and a dashing young forester (Emily Johnson) - not to mention the unlikely comedy pairing of Dickie (Laurence Platt) and Dame Do-Good (Neville Green).
Even the smallest of the players exuded confidence. Hansel (Greta Alp/Jake Basi) and Gretel (Katie Hubble/Katie Hillier) enchanted us all with their duet, Candle on the Water.
The piano and percussion added finesse, whilst imaginative backdrops of the forest, village and gingerbread house complemented the performance.
An all-round enjoyable evening.
