TAKING your dog for a walk around Dartford Heath should be an enjoyable experience, not just for the dog but for the owner.
Unfortunately there are some irresponsible dog owners out there who don't seem to have any control over their animals.
They end up not only ruining a pleasant walk, but causing an injury.
On its first outing on the heath, our Staffordshire bull terrier pup was chased and pounced upon by a Rottweiler, injuring one of its back legs.
This happened again with the same dog when our pup was five months old, making it squeal with pain even though my husband had given the owner and his Alsatian and Rottweiler a wide berth.
Our dog was fearful of going to the heath but overcame this.
Perhaps the owners would think twice about letting their dogs chase others if they were made to pay the vet bill for the damage caused.
If the owners cannot control their dogs, they should be made to keep them on leads.
