A COUNCILLOR is threatening to resign after planning inspectors upheld an appeal by developers to build a block of flats in a village.
Braintree councillor Keith Bigden said the eight to ten flats planned for Kissing Gate in Church Road, Hatfield Peverel, were a threat to the village.
The council refused two planning applications from Woodhill Property Developments for a block of either eight or ten two-bedroom flats on the site.
But the Planning Inspectorate approved both schemes on appeal, although only one of them will be built.
