A SCHEME to provide pub staff with living quarters in a caravan has been refused permission despite local support.
A retrospective application was submitted by The Sutton Arms Inn, at Faceby, near Stokesley, for the caravan.
Many local residents supported placing it in the pub's car park, with 44 people signing a petition in support. Several supporters felt it was needed for the staff because of a lack of affordable housing in the area.
However, there were critics, who felt the caravan was unsightly. They said the pub had recently been extended to provide more staff accommodation.
The North York Moors National Park refused the application.
