IIF Group athlete Mike Tallis recorded a promising result in his first indoor competition of the season, finishing sixth in the semi-final of the BUSA Indoor Championships in Sheffield.

Meanwhile Leanne Renshaw continued her progress, impressing in the Eton duathlon and finishing third overall in a race in which she achieved seventh place just a month ago.

She showed a four minute improvement on the bike in very windy conditons and her two five kilometre runs were her best yet in competition.

Elsewhere Maureen Emmett competed in the Welsh five kilometre championships on Sunday, running her best time of the season, 21.00.65.

A number of City of Salisbury Athletic and Running Club members went to the Grand Prix Circuit at Silverstone this weekend, for a warm up event ahead of this year's Flora London Marathon.

Three of the Salisbury runners went particularly well in a field of over 6000, Fiona Ross-Russell winning the women's over 45 class and Terry Ryalls winning the men's over 65s race.

Mary Clements claimed second.
